It’s sad that took me almost a week after I finished painting in my bedroom to get enough natural light to take a good picture of the results! But the rain clouds finally parted and now I can share with you how my weekend project turned out:

Painting the wall behind my bed was so gratifying. $14 worth of paint, one Saturday of work, and it totally transformed the room. I love the color; it’s called Poppyseed, and looks just like it sounds… a near black hue with hints of navy blue.

Here is what the room looked like before, major blah:

And for fun… one more stellar “after”:

Checking one project off the list of course means I’m just thinking about I want to do next… lamp upgrades, a new duvet, and perhaps some art above the bed? I’m never finished!

This room has all of my essentials: a quirky gallery wall, a well-stocked bar, mixed and matched vintage chairs, wood floors, and a dash of lucite for some glamour.

I also love the chandelier — it has me thinking about adding some sort of fancier lighting to my apartment. I may not be able to do electrical work in my rental, but perhaps a non-working version could be hung up for a dash of adornment? Add that to the to-do list!

I had a delicious brunch with my girlfriends to cap off a relaxing fall weekend.

This was a bowl of baked heaven:

Brunch was topped off with some thrifting at the SOWA market:

Lots of Mad-Men-esque glassware, I’m kicking myself for not scooping these up:

And ton’s of retro-chic:

This one was a winner:

Also, no trick-or-treaters showed up tonight, which means I have a lot of candy to eat this week… I better go get started.

A few weeks ago I gave you a sneak peek at some decorations I was making for my friends’ wedding, and I’m happy to finally share the results.

I used some cake rounds, a little paint, and some ribbon to trim the edges to make the table numbers, and they were a nice pop of color to match the blue and orange theme!

This wedding was absolutely gorgeous. You MUST check out more of the amazing photos here at Bring To Light Photography.

I wanted to share a recap of the great event I attended last week at the Boston West Elm. The event, hosted at West Elm with Patch NYC and several local Etsy designers was a total success, I had so much fun with girlfriends sipping on cocktails, indulging in h’ors d’oeuvres, and going on a mini shopping spree. It was quite a festive occasion — I loved the wooden faux-chandeliers decorating the store:

One of my favorite Etsy vendors was Earmark Invitations, in addition to their gorgeous stationery they  colorful pencils with funny sayings on them like “Stay Classy” and “I’m kind of a big deal” — I snagged a set of them for myself and got a few for Christmas presents too!

Another vendor with adorable creations was eclu, their flower pins were artfully displayed on a dress form — I can’t resist the color-coding!

Plus I checked out some of the West Elm products — they have amazing seasonal displays, lots of yellow and gray, and dashes of chevron here and there:

I managed to hold back on the chevron but couldn’t resist some citron … I came home with a new tray to corral my mail and the super cozy chunky tassel throw that I blogged about last week…

Somehow I’ve spent my entire life in the Northeast and never went apple picking before this weekend. I think I picked the perfect weekend for my first time, it was absolutely gorgeous out in Boston. Plus I got to play around with my new camera, what do you think?

I’m just finally downloading pictures from my girls weekend in Miami a few weeks ago and thought I’d share a few of my faves:

Is anyone else having a hard time adjusting like me from the long weekend and back to reality today?

I had a lovely weekend spent enjoying the last days of summer with good food and good friends, and getting a few little projects in progress. I stripped and started to reupholster a chair for my living room, and thought I’d share the fabulous fabric I found after taking off the first layer of upholstery. It’s too bad it spent years hiding underneath boring navy fabric!

I kept my promise and reworked the old toolbox I bought at Brimfield  into a glamorous jewelry armoire last week. I can’t wait to share the “after” pictures, but first, let’s revisit the “before” picture of the rusty old tool box (this picture doesn’t do it justice, it was pretty banged up and dirty):

After hours of sanding down rust with steel wool (lots of help from a loving boyfriend) and several coats of spray paint later, I have to say, I’m a bit obsessed with how it turned out:

I’m mostly excited because I can’t believe how organized all of my accessories are now! There’s a little surprise on the inside, hot pink felt lining to keep my necklaces from rattling around in the metal drawers:

And to corral all of the teeny-tiny bits of baubles I spray painted an egg crate to match the metal.

It was quite the facelift — from holding to wrenches to cocktail rings!
