Design*Sponge Event.
Last night I stopped by West Elm after work for the Design*Sponge book signing. Grace did a DIY workshop on personalizing napkins with freezer paper stencils — one of the crafts in the new book. I made a pair with my initials on it (Warning family and friends: monogrammed dinner napkins may be coming your way this holiday season!). It was awesome to meet Grace — I have to admit, I was a bit starstruck meeting her; she’s one of the first bloggers that I started to read regularly. She was as warm and nice in person as she seems from reading her blog. And the book looks awesome, I’m so excited read it!

Perfect imperfection.
This room was featured on Design*Sponge earlier in the week and it has my design wheels turning. I’m probably not going to start ripping up walls this weekend, but I am inspired by how put together this “unfinished” style looks. I’m a symmetry queen, a piles and stacks addict, and need everything to be evenly space and squared off. Perhaps a little haphazard-ness is needed to soften decor though, that’s what drew me to this room after all. What do you think? Do you like this look?

Chalkboard dots.
I have been walking around my apartment trying to decide where to paint a wall with chalkboard paint after seeing this amazing “after” on Design*Sponge this week:
It reminds me so much of the Topshop makeup packaging!
Perfect timing.
Right after my comments yesterday about Thomas Paul wares being discounted on Rue La La and Gilt Groupe this week to possibly make room for new additions to their line, Design*Sponge posted a preview of their new collection. What perfect timing!
The pillows have a nice worn-with-age look to them, and you know I can’t get enough of the chevron:
Plus it looks like the octopus curtains I was raving about at Anthropologie will also be produced for the shower too!
Emersonmade a home.
I posted about the genius Emersonmade back in the Fall because I can’t get enough of their adorable accessories and the fabulous styling and photography on their site. Every time I pop over to their blog, I wonder what their home really looks like, and the story behind Emerson and her little venture.
It looks like the ladies at Design*Sponge had the same curiousity and posted a house tour of Emerson & Ryan’s home:
I can’t get enough! Check out the rest of the pictures, including a killer pantry, here.
Pssst: Don’t forget to enter the Thomas Paul giveaway!
Interview with a mad man.
If you’re a Mad Men fan like me, you have to read the interview on Design*Sponge today with Adam Rowe, an art assistant on the set. Totally awesome insider dish on the set design, I’m fascinated that they take so much time to record every item from every scene to make sure all of the elements are accurate. I dream of walking into their set closets!

Full contact.
I get overly excited about the before-and-afters on Design*Sponge on a good day, but this console table has me really worked up. Can you believe this DIY is just wood covered in zebra contact paper? Amazing.
Yellow Windows.
I was delighted today to open up Design*Sponge‘s site and see a sneak peek of Mara Zepeda’s home. The whole tour is great, but the real draw for me is the yellow painted window frames in her living room. I never would have thought to paint the window frames a different color, to me, they’re always just white. I don’t have to tell anyone here that I’m a huge yellow and gray fan, and I love this unexpected punch of color in the soothing grey room!
