Sprucing things up.

I spruced up our bedroom recently with a few new accessories that were under the Christmas tree! We have slanted ceilings in our bedroom which can make decorating a challenge — but my parents gifted me the perfect little gold starburst mirror that fits perfectly in the in the spot above our bed that I’ve been trying to fill for a year and a half.  And I added a new Dwell Studio citrine zebra pillow that has been on my wishlist forever; it’s the perfect pop of color against the poppyseed walls!

Glitzy and Gold.

The benefit of this crazy storm? A cozy night in with my Pinterest boards. I was pinning away last night all things glitzy and gold; including that little pave bubble bracelet came home with me from my NYC trip this weekend! What did you do to distract yourself from the storm?

Mirror, necklace, anchor keychain, bracelet

Good as gold.

When it comes to entertaining, most of my dishes and glassware are white and clear, then I can have fun with accessories and linens to switch up the theme. I think that gold is the new neutral and is also a perfect backdrop for lots of color combinations too. Plus a touch of sparkly metallic makes them extra festive.

Of course Kate Spade is right on trend, with their champagne saucers and gold place settings (on sale on Gilt!). And I love the cross-hatch pattern on Vera Wang’s serving bowls (also on sale!). Plus, a little elf told me that those striped and polka-dot glasses may be under my tree on Christmas morning… I can’t wait!

Outdoors in.

I’m so excited to have outdoor space this summer in my new apartment. Barbecuing and sunshine are lovely and all, but what I’m really excited about? Another space to decorate!

Everyone is always trying to “bring the outside in” but I’m fully prepared to bring the inside out and make it a homey little addition to the rest of the indoor-rooms. I think adding an outdoor rug would make the space look much more ‘room’-like and am surprised by all of the great options that go beyond the usual jute rugs.

Pier 1 has some super bright options that are astonishingly inexpensive:

And I love the colors of these reversible rugs from Living Comforts:

I need to narrow some furniture choices and start making some decisions, moving day will be here before I know it!
