Some of my favorite bloggers are sharing their summer entertaining essentials for being a savvy hostess this season, up next in the series is Shannon, from the adorable blog, I Love Your Crazy:
Hi! It’s Shannon Darrough from the blog I Love Your Crazy! I’m ridiculously excited to share my idea of summer entertaining on Kate’s blog today. I live on the coast of North Carolina where oyster roasts and seafood boils are tradition. You can host larger groups without the dish duty at the end of the night, and if you’re lucky you’ll see a few fireflies. The best part? It doesn’t take a lot to pull a seafood boil together.
A few twinkle lights, cold drinks, and some newspaper for the tabletop make for a cozy time. Guests are always excited for the big moment when you empty all the seafood on the table. That’s right, no plates or silverware besides your crab crackers. When I’m going all out for a seafood boil, I love to play up the nautical vibe with pops of red and navy blue. I rounded up a few items I would use (or have used a time or two) when hosting an intimate seafood boil. Thanks for having me over!

I could spend hours looking at all of the invites and stationery on Minted, and I am delighted to find out that they have expanded their offerings to now include a line of art prints. I’m making a little wish list of the prints I want to collect for my apartment — the striped chairs might be my favorite! Which would you choose?

Have you seen this new limited edition Chandon bottle for Summer? I’m making it my mission to find some to pop on the Fourth of July — and of course it would pair so well with a little red, white, and blue number. Peplums, stripes, and a little dash of red is a winning combination for a patriotic celebration, don’t you think?

I haven’t dyed Easter eggs since I was a kid, but something made me stop in the aisle of the grocery store this week and grab a kit. Of course being the DIYer that I am, I couldn’t stop at just dunking the eggs in colored dye. I broke out some of my neon washi tapes and went to town decorating them with stripes. I’m enjoying the pop of color  seeing them in a bowl on my counter top!

I just came across this adorable breakfast nook from an old issue of Oprah magazine. I’m in love with the striped chairs, the over-sized chalkboard, and the mini-gallery of oil paintings. I actually have a similar table already and black and white kitchen chairs; all I’m missing is some vintage art to recreate this look. I’m going to keep this image in mind for summer flea market inspiration!

I thought I would share some of the inspiration I’ve been gathering for our wedding colors; this has been one of the most fun parts of the planning process. Taking inspiration from fashion and interiors, I’m loving this combination of a bright, cheery green paired with bold, crisp black and white striped accents. The hope is that it looks preppy yet playful; what do you think of this color combination?

I’m having so much fun starting to pull together inspiration for our wedding. Sure, we don’t have a date or a venue yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m not already brainstorming details like flowers and decorations. There are so many gorgeous pictures to pull from online that it can be hard to hone your vision, so I’ve started making mini-inspiration boards for different aspects of the wedding. One detail that I have my heart set on is black and white striped ribbon incorporated into the flowers; I absolutely love how the big bows look wrapped around the stems.

All you need is just a dash of detail to make a simple patent pump a coveted statement piece — and a black and white striped heel does just that. Thank you, Kate Spade, for feeding my stripe obsession even more!

Lately I’ve been doing a little thinking on an upcoming bridal shower I’m throwing for a friend with her other bridesmaids; think up a color scheme and theme is so much fun. I thought I’d share the moodboard I’ve been working on — it’s going to be a pink, black and white girly extravaganza. One of my favorite details from these images is the black and white striped table runners — and I whipped up a few this weekend!

I’m totally digging this room; I love the striped walls, the oversized framed art, the modern lighting, and the soothing color palette.

But want to know a secret? Those stripes are made out of masking tape! I couldn’t believe it when I read it. I’m sure it looks a little more tape-y up close, but it’s an interesting idea for renters — imagine how it would look with patterned Japanese washi tape?
