Thom Filicia’s lake house tour might be my all time favorite spread from Domino Magazine — I tore out and saved those images long before ‘pinning’ them was an option. So I let out a gasp when I saw House Beautiful published updated photos of the space in this month’s issue to promote his new book, American Beauty, written about renovating the home. The book is certainly getting pre-ordered, and these pictures added to the inspiration file!

My design crush on Thom Filicia, if this is even possible, just grew a little bigger. He did a Designer Visions showhouse for House Beautiful and was asked to base his design on a movie. Well, as the astrological design stars aligned, Thom picked The Big Chill – which just happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time!
And I’m not just excited because of our shared interests, the showhouse wasn’t so shabby either. I’m jumping over backwards for the master bedroom; its totally glamorous. Major props for the mismatched night stands, it adds interest but the matching table heights and reading lamps gives it a cohesive look.
Words can not express how excited I was to find out that Thom Filicia, my favorite celeb-designer, is launching his own line of home goods! Besides wowing me on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Dress My Nest, Thom is also the author of Thom Filicia Style, one of my favorite design books.
He’s venturing into numerous home collections, from rugs to lighting to appliances, but I will especially be excited to see what he whips up for his furniture and fabric lines!
Perhaps my favorite Domino house tour was of Thom’s summer cottage; I love how he blends his classic style into the rustic setting, it just looks like the perfect place to kick up your feet and have a cocktail on warm summer evening.
