On Friday night we tried a new neighborhood restaurant and I fell in love with it before we even ordered when I saw how fun their cocktail menu was! I played along and settled on a greyhound — it was delicious! Then on Saturday one of my girlfriends hosted a blind wine tasting party — everyone brought a bottle they’d never had before and we got to work sipping and rating our favorites! Aren’t the little cards she designed the cutest? All in all, it was a pretty fine weekend!

We took a little trip to New York this weekend to spend time with family. My jam-packed schedule included a little Friday night lights for my brother’s football game, a pop-in at the pumpkin patch, and a few fun stops in the city — I finally got to try Shake Shack (yum) and explore C.Wonder (wow). It looks like we’re going to be stuck inside for the next few days with this crazy weather, so I’m glad we got in our whirlwind of fun before the storm hits!

Here’s my question: would it be unreasonable to buy a lobster door knocker and store it away in my closet until I someday hypothetically own my very own front door? I think my supportive blog readers will agree that no, that is in no way unreasonable (and that’s why I keep you guys around, to justify buying lobster door knockers).

Baking can  be a daunting task when you have a tiny apartment kitchen, but I powered through the minimal counter space dilemma this weekend and made some mini pecan pie tarts. The recipe was simple and it was a nice relaxing way to spend my Sunday afternoon.  Now if only doing the dishes was as rewarding as popping those sweet little bites in my mouth!

Thom Filicia’s lake house tour might be my all time favorite spread from Domino Magazine — I tore out and saved those images long before ‘pinning’ them was an option. So I let out a gasp when I saw House Beautiful published updated photos of the space in this month’s issue to promote his new book, American Beauty, written about renovating the home. The book is certainly getting pre-ordered, and these pictures added to the inspiration file!

I had a quintessential fall day this weekend full of cider donuts and apples and gorgeous New England weather. It felt nice to need to bundle up a bit and pull out the jackets and scarves! How did you spend this fabulous fall weekend?

West Elm just introduced their holiday line and I’m quite pleased to see a fun collaboration with Confettisystem! It might be a little early to start planning for the holidays, but these ornaments and garlands are so festive, I think you  could use them all year round.

Ornaments, Garland

This print pretty much sums up my personal mantra, I think it deserves a place in my kitchen. And they styling in this little scene? Spot on. I love the idea of using an old dresser as a bar — think of all the storage for linens and other party goods! Plus corralling the barware in an oversized basket keeps things neat and tidy, don’t you think?
