When I was getting ready for an event last week I came to the realization that I really didn’t own a pair of plain black shoes. I’ve been caught up in the trends lately and somewhere in between neons and bows and animal prints I forgot about the classics. My wardrobe has been missing the building blocks, so I made it my mission this weekend while I was shopping with a girlfriend to locate those closet staples. I’m happy to report I found both black ballet flats and heels — it makes we want to go back to basics with the rest of my wardrobe and invest in the classics. What are you closet staples?

Sparkly gold napkins, statement baubles, silly stationery and bright Hunter wellies;  just a couple of pretty little things that have caught my eye lately. Sharing something happy and simple to get the week started off right — here’s to conquering Monday!

The calendar has flipped to October, which means it’s pumpkin season! My apartment isn’t exactly conducive to pumpkin carving, so I opted for a cleaner project and painted my pumpkin patch with some neon pink paint and my favorite patterns: stripes and polka dots! Are you decorating pumpkins for Fall?

I have just started tackling some research for building out our registry. My fiancé and I already live together — in fact we’ve lived in 3 different apartments over the past few years and have accumulated lots of kitchen items — but most of those things are hand-me-downs, and college-era relics. I’m talking all about my plans for building a registry of kitchen  ‘upgrades’ over on Wayfair’s  My Way Home blog today — head over and join the conversation!

I was lucky to catch a few runway shows at The Tent for Boston Fashion Week on Saturday. My favorite of the shows was Luke Aaron who presented gorgeous, lady-like pieces. Peplums, gingham maxi skirts, and smart little structured bags all made an appearance on the runway. And the best part? The long, bouncy ponytails on the models — they looked sophisticated and un-fussy — something to keep in mind on my next bad hair day!

Boston weather is making me a bit crazy this week — it’s freezing cold in the morning and then toasty warm by mid-day. I like to commit to a season, and I am ready for Fall. I’m already plotting my official switch from sandals and sundresses to my Fall Uniform … which pretty much consists of tights and boots with cozy dresses, and bright jeans with soft striped tees. What’s your Fall uniform?

Finding the perfect wedding dress was a super painless and easy task for me — I was incredibly decisive and knew exactly what I was looking for. As a self-professed statement necklace junky, my hunt for the perfect wedding day jewelry has been far more of a challenge. Big chunky beaded necklaces, layers or pearls, delicate gold chains, I just can’t seem to make up my mind! These are the few of the contenders in the mix now, which one is your favorite?

I’ve been enjoying the New York Fashion Week updates from the comfort of my own home this week, living vicariously through the instagrams and tweets, pins and posts, of all of my favorite bloggers. The one piece that has stood out for me among all of the fashion week chatter has been this gorgeous striped Oscar De La Renta dress… isn’t it just the most chic thing you’ve ever seen?

Did you feel that touch of cool in the air this weekend? It’s causing me to go crazy with lust over fall fashion — I’m pulling out the black dresses and animal prints, and mixing in some bright accessories (like that hot pink bib necklace from Bauble Bar that just arrived in my mailbox this weekend).  These are just a few of the things on my radar this week:

Necklace ($36), Clutch ($187), Skirt ($45), Heels ($198)

I’m one of five bloggers sharing a “trash to treasure” DIY makeover  on Brooklyn Limestone this week; head over and see how I turned a beat up old toolbox into a jewelry armoire!
