Do you ever have that moment when you suddenly decide you’re “over” a space in your home? I had that moment earlier this week when I decided that the living room is in need of an update. My long-lived obsession with citron and grey came to a grinding halt and I’m dying for some new colors in the space. I combed through my inspiration folder and plucked out an image from Eddie Ross that featured a bright and rich Quadrille Ikat print — and now my wheels are turning for how I can incorporate it in the room.  I’ll be sure to share my inspiration board once it’s all pulled together!

Don’t you love it when you have one of those AHA! moments for a DIY project? I have been majorly crushing on the Kate Spade Bixby clutch, and crossing my fingers for a miracle sale so I can make it mine. But it turns out, I may have found a way to actually make it mine. I found a similar style clutch at Nordstrom’s that is just begging for a little hot glue, paint, and a few wooden beads, don’t you think?

Add this to your to-do list today: stop by Society Social, and read through their newly published magalog. What’s a magalog you ask? One part catalog introducing Society Social‘s stunning line of bar carts and furniture that launches next week; and one part stylish online entertaining magazine (with a tip on throwing a fabulous soirée from yours truly on pg 63).  I promise you’ll be inspired and will likely want to pour a cocktail concoction from your own fabulous bar cart after reading!

Earlier in the week I posted about the crisp bright vermilion hued-trend in Fall fashion displays this year, and it made me think about all of the ways I’ve seen the color used in design. Much like pairing the color with classics like blue jeans and camel coats, I think the same practice applies in interiors — it looks best paired with crisp white details and simple design.

Deborah Lloyd’s wardrobe was featured on The Coveteur last week, and sure I was excited about the shoes — but really I was honing in on the interior design behind the shoes.  I of course adored the gallery wall in her home too, especially the paper ephemera tacked on top of the frames with neon pink washi tape. And you know you’re fabulous when you have a giant stuffed white peacock in your living room — I want to move in!

J.Crew is calling it Flaming Red, others might call it vermilion, but I think the only thing you need to call it is the “it” color for Fall. Walking past storefronts this weekend I saw it in every display popping next to camel coats, boyfriend jeans, and leopard print accessories — I love how crisp and bright it looks in every variation.

Today I’m guest posting over on Here In This House’s series: The Dog Days of Summer. Bloggers are joining all week  sharing their nesting to-do’s as summer closes and we gear up for fall. Below is a hint about one of my end of summer decor to-do’s, go over to Here In This House to check it out!

I took a day trip with the family over the weekend to Block Island — one of my favorite places in the world. It had been almost 6 years since I had last visited so I had a fun time rediscovering the picturesque Victorian main street and taking in the harbor views. I was happy to see that while some things had changed since my last visit, the charm of the island remained the same.

I snagged a copy of the Kate Spade catalog when I was in the store on Newbury Street this past weekend and immediately ripped out this page to tack up on my bulletin board. Their marketing campaigns always impress me and this one was no exception — it’s so playful and bright! Plus it introduced me to the bixby clutch, which just skyrocketed to the top of my lust list.
