I was flipping through Jonathan Adler on Happy Chic Colors, which I got for my birthday, and fell in love with this dining area. I’m a big fan of the metallic shelves and orb light fixtures, plus a splash of citron gets me every time. It’s a really great book with tons of interior inspiration.

Snag a copy of the book here.

Usually I’m obsessing about stripes or polka dots, but I think 2011 is going to be the year of gingham. I just picked up a gingham button down at J.Crew a few weeks ago and I love how it goes with everything. I have a growing wishlist now to incorporate a little more cheery check in my life.

I think I’m just going to start a new blog or tumblr that features amazing cake pictures. I could look at them all day long! My obsession today is this six-layer  chocolate malted & toasted-marshmallow cake, it looks heavenly. Visit Sweetapolita for the recipe and to look at the gazillion other delicious pictures — I have definitely found a new favorite baking blog.

Another cake moment this morning was spotted on You Are My Fave, where mini cakes were used in lieu of floral centerpieces for a party tablescape. Man I’m hungry!

I’m totally digging this room; I love the striped walls, the oversized framed art, the modern lighting, and the soothing color palette.

But want to know a secret? Those stripes are made out of masking tape! I couldn’t believe it when I read it. I’m sure it looks a little more tape-y up close, but it’s an interesting idea for renters — imagine how it would look with patterned Japanese washi tape?

Read more about this room on Apartment Therapy.

Black raspberry, blackberry, really berry anything is my favorite — I love the  flavors but think I’m also drawn to the delicious looking colors too. This blackberry buttercream frosting recipe is definitely getting stored away for a special occasion — it’s mouthwatering just looking at it.

I saw this picture and was inspired this weekend to break out a little neon myself. I painted my nails a similar neon-orange and stacked on some pink and gold bracelets — isn’t it so Summer-y and fun? Lets hope some warm weather isn’t too far away — I could get used to this bright color palette.

I love this image of stacks of striped tees — it’s a similar to scene my dressing room at the J.Crew outlet this weekend; it took much willpower not to buy a full wardrobe of stripes.

The picture is from  Closet Visit, definitely click over and check out this amazing style blog that looks into closets of very stylish and talented women.

I took my gazillion recipe cards and print outs and tears from magazines and finally organized them all in clear sheet protectors in a binder that matches my kitchen. It feels good to be organized and makes the “what am I going to make for dinner” nightly dilemma a bit more manageable after a long day of work.

I put this off for a long time because I had a lofty goal of writing all of my recipes out on pretty letterpress recipe cards and storing them in a recipe box. But this was a much more practical solution and is protecting my recipes from the splatters and crumbs in the cooking process. How do you organize your recipes?

I wrote about the Warby Parker samples I received, polled readers on twitter for their suggestions, and finally decided on the Miles frames. My new glasses arrived and they’re easily my favorite accessory right now — I had lots of fun trying them on with different outfits and finally wearing them out with girlfriends this weekend. Plus it’s nice to be able to read street signs off in the distance again.

Just as my new specs arrived, Warby Parker has come out with even more styles. I’m already narrowing down choices for pair number two!

I saw this picture this week and my heart melted, isn’t this kitchen gorgeous? I’m a jadeite collector and always feel like it’s hard to display the pieces without the room looking theme-y or overly country. But this kitchen is a perfect balance of modern elements like stainless steel appliances and barstools with time-worn kitchen tools like the rusted flour tins, and the subtle dose of floral wallpaper. I want to move right in!
