I took my gazillion recipe cards and print outs and tears from magazines and finally organized them all in clear sheet protectors in a binder that matches my kitchen. It feels good to be organized and makes the “what am I going to make for dinner” nightly dilemma a bit more manageable after a long day of work.
I put this off for a long time because I had a lofty goal of writing all of my recipes out on pretty letterpress recipe cards and storing them in a recipe box. But this was a much more practical solution and is protecting my recipes from the splatters and crumbs in the cooking process. How do you organize your recipes?
I recently made my own cookbook at TasteBook.com and really liked it. It was really reasonable and helps to keep everything so organized!
I actually once received a recipe book specifically designed for this type of thing. It’s also a binder divided into categories with plastic covers that double as recipe holders. It’s actually pretty neat.
My friend bought it at Paper Things in Toronto. I’m not sure if they still sell it though.
i keep mine in a filing folder! i keep my take-out menus in clear plastic sleeves in a binder just like the above! it’s so easy to flip through…love it 😉

I recently did this same thing. I found a really cute green & white trellis patterned folder at Target, which satisfied the “pretty aspect” of recipe organizing. This system has really worked for me.
I just did the same thing after I realized I was never really going to write all my recipes on color coordinated notecards… it works out well and helps out a lot if you splatter on them!
I have the best intentions to organize that pile of magazines into something like this….need to get moving, don’t I?! Looks great!
That is exactly what I do! Tear out pages of magazine recipes I like or if I find one on the internet, I just paste it into a word doc and print it out! I use clear sheet protectors and put them in pretty binders {target has cute ones right now}. Super easy!
ok twin, when I graduated from college and started cooking, this is how I organized my recipes too. Makes finding things so easy, right? Even though people comment that it’s like the dorkiest thing EVER. 😉
That’s exactly how I organize mine!
This is such a great idea, I so need to do this with mine too
