A few weeks back a member of our Boston Bloggers group approached me about photographing our apartment for Houzz. I’m sure anyone who rents would agree with me, that apartment living isn’t always perfect — you have to work with what you have (in my case, crazy zig-zag carpeting and a kitchen with no cabinets!). Knowing those imperfections can be the things that I dwell on, I was a little apprehensive at first — but Faith from Design Fixation photographed our space and I’m so touched seeing the images that she captured of it. We’re in the very beginning stages of house-hunting (exciting! terrifying!) and I’m so happy to know that this imperfect little apartment where we got engaged, married, and built a pretty cool adult life is preserved. I pulled a few of my favorite details from the shoot below, if you’d like to see more of the images and interview (plus lots of product resources) head on over to Houzz. I love your space! I definitely have lots of plans for our space (or whatever comes next) inspired by yours 🙂
so many things to love in your place. Wishing my apt looked so good. LOVE LOVE LOVE the swizzles on the bar cart – a must have (see my post: http://bit.ly/1A3yjER) also love that horse print – very “Black Stallion-esque – think the miniature statue the boy had. Plus love mirror and hooks in your? closet Great use of space Kate!
Your place is so cute! That’s awesome you will have these photos to remember it by someday in the future… I love what you said about the cabinets and carpet- with so many of the apartments in the city it’s hard to find one that is perfect, but so inspiring to see how you made yours look so cute despite what others may have seen as flaws! All about working with what ya got 🙂
Thanks for sharing my tour Kate! So thrilled that you were happy with the way the photos came out. I’ve been inspired to use more color in my apartment ever since I first saw yours 😉
I love how you have your books organized by color. I wish I had that kind of discipline. You’re apartment is adorable and looks very livable. Ours used to look like that… before we had kids. Now everything is placed in the highest spot like we’re getting ready for a flood. Kids really affect decor, lol.
I looooove that horse print…where did you find it??
It’s from Etsy! The seller closed their shop though, which is a bummer, people ask me about it all the time (I’ve even had people ask if they can buy it off my wall, ha!)
