When I was getting ready for an event last week I came to the realization that I really didn’t own a pair of plain black shoes. I’ve been caught up in the trends lately and somewhere in between neons and bows and animal prints I forgot about the classics. My wardrobe has been missing the building blocks, so I made it my mission this weekend while I was shopping with a girlfriend to locate those closet staples. I’m happy to report I found both black ballet flats and heels — it makes we want to go back to basics with the rest of my wardrobe and invest in the classics. What are you closet staples? 
i read recently that nude pumps/heels are just as much a classic as black, and they have the added bonus of elongating the legs…i’m sold and am on the hunt for the perfect pair! 🙂
Definitely a classic trench coat. I also think every wardrobe should have a pair of great dress pants, a pencil skirt, solid tshirts, printed scarves, and a cashmere vneck. Mix it up with colors and textures- but my M-F wardrobe is typically “the classics”
I totally agree with the trench! I finally broke down and bought one this past weekend and am so glad I did. I’ve made use of it every day since. Great point to keep an eye on the classics amongst all the trends!
