I am partnering with my friends at RiceSelect today to mix up some tasty back to school snack mixes and storing them in repurposed rice jars. These easy, no-cook snack mixes are a great way to use up leftover snacks, the last scoop of dry cereal, a few nuts that are left over from a recipe, and other end-of-the-box ingredients.RiceSelect rice is one of my pantry staples, and when I’m done with one of the jars, they are easy to clean out and reuse for an easy storage solution. I love the indented handles that make it easy to pour ingredients, and they’re made of 100% BPA-free plastic. Perfect for storing these homemade snack mixes (and nice for kids’ craft supplies too!).I made two versions of my easy, no-cook snack mix: one sweet, and one savory. In the sweet mix, I combined chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate bunny graham crackers with yogurt covered raisins, salty roasted pumpkin seeds and rice cereal. You could add dried fruit, or other chocolate-covered treats and cereal into the mix to make it your own! For the savory snack mix, I used the same rice cereal and mixed it with goldfish, mini cheddar cheese crackers, lightly salted peanuts, and crispy round pretzel bites. It’s easy to adapt this to ingredients you already have on hand – swap in any type of pretzel, cereal, mini cracker, or nuts! And omit anything that works for personal or school food restrictions – a nut free version is easy to adapt! After I mixed all the ingredients up in a big bowl, I poured them into the repurposed RiceSelect jars to keep them fresh and store in my pantry until it’s time to pack lunches or grab a tasty afterschool snack!
