It’s been a few weeks since I shared a Friday Download post here, and thought I’d get one out a little bit early this week before we sign-off for Labor Day weekend! Remember how we just blinked and summer zoomed on by us? I can’t believe we’re celebrating the long weekend already and kids are going back to school and just this week the temperature dropped low enough for me to pull out some jeans and a cozy pullover. I can’t complain though, we’ve had an amazing fun-filled summer. Plus, fall is my absolute favorite in New England. Here’s what’s been going on around the blog the last few weeks, and a few links I’m loving:The Long Weekend. We’re gearing up for a weekend away as we fly out for a friend’s wedding over the holiday, so I’m leaning on all of the advice I shared in this post about travel gear for babies – and packing up my favorite hot pink color-blocked duffle bag! If you’re staying local and looking for some tasty treats to make, I recently shared my favorite summer dessert recipe – a homemade blueberry cobbler – and a fun idea for adding some tequila to blackberry flavored popsicles.
A Big Makeover. We finally shared our master bedroom makeover after several months of chipping away at this huge project. Click over and check out the before and after pictures, they’re pretty good – we went from having a 1970’s kitchenette on our bedroom wall to brand new his-and-hers closets! As we wrapped up that project, I’ve been working on our guest bedroom next. It’s in the final stages and just needs some finishing touches before I share it!
Get Cooking. I’m not fully in fall-mode yet, but a few of my new recipe posts this month have me gearing up for that back-to-school mindset that hits in September. No one in our household goes back to school yet, but I love that fresh start that September brings and I’m using it to try to be better about meal planning, eating healthy lunches, and making my own baby food for Jane. If you’re ready to jump right into autumn though, check out my post on iced pumpkin spice coffee with whipped cream and mini-pancakes!
On My Bookshelf. If you’re in need of some good reads for the long-weekend, I have two new books on my shelf that I’ve been loving! Sarah Waldman has one of the loveliest Instagram pages and I was delighted to see she was publishing a cookbook of her recipes all tailored for feeding a young, active family. Feeding a Family has images are gorgeous, the recipes are approachable, and the ideas are really unique – I can’t wait to try more of them! I’ve long followed the blog Pizzazzerie, and Courtney just published an entertaining book that far exceeds all of the amazing ideas I love from her site. It’s full of fun, colorful, fresh ideas for entertaining and is chock-full of smart tips too!
All The Fall. We can’t talk about the change of the seasons without a few fall fashion items! I am a classics girl and have a shopping cart full at LL Bean of simple fall pieces like this striped rugby pullover, their new leather handled boat tote, and a cozy fleece for Jane! I’m also obsessing over all of the new arrivals at Boden – especially these adorable booties with smart little tassels on the back!
