Sugar and spice and everything nice! That’s what I thought when I first tried Fancypants Baking Co’s Spiced Chocolate cookies. They’re crispy little chocolate treats with a hint of cinnamon and cayenne – the perfect bite to satisfying a craving and warm you up on these cold winter days. I loved them so much that they inspired me to make homemade spiced hot chocolate to pair them with – a sweet and spiced pairing that warms up your core!I’m a big fan of Fancypants Baking Co’s cookies in general, they’re made with fresh, wholesome, mindfully sourced ingredients, and all made in nut-free facilities. The company also has a big focus on sustainability – all of their food waste (think: broken cookies) gets turned into energy through a partnership with Farm Powered or used create other upcycled products (seriously, try their tasty upcycled cookies, yum!).The Fancypants Baking Co’s Spiced Chocolate cookies are so good, it’s just a hint of spice that makes the flavor really unique (not too spicy, Jane ate them and enjoyed them along with the grown-ups!). The flavor profile was like a lightbulb moment for me and made me crave a spiced hot cocoa. Creating this homemade version was a cinch, just warming and whisking the ingredients together in a small pot. The few extra minutes of prep – compared to a packet of hot cocoa mix – make it so worth it, the flavor is unparalleled and perfect companion to the spiced chocolate cookies.
