In all of the holiday hustle and bustle I totally forgot to share pictures of little pre-Christmas adventure up to Quebec City! The trip has become a bit of a tradition for us, this marked our 4th year going, and the first time since we got engaged there two years ago.  It was a winter wonderland to say the least, we tromped through a fresh foot of snow to do window shopping, warmed up in cute cafes and restaurants with tasty soups and treats (macarons, of course!), and admired the holiday decorations on the old city’s streets. It’s always such a perfect little retreat to get in the holiday spirit.

I hinted to a little a surprise in my last post, and now I’m ready to share my big news! The week before Christmas my boyfriend and I took a quick getaway to Quebec City for some relaxing before the holidays. And on the first night we arrived he proposed in the snow in front of our hotel as we were walking to dinner!  It was the perfect setting for an amazing surprise. The best part was that we’ve been able to spend the last week celebrating with friends and family. I’m already scheming away with color palettes and crafty ideas, so expect to see a little bit of wedding chatter on the blog in 2012!

We still have a few days until New Years Resolutions kick in, right? I had to share one last tidbit from my trip to Quebec last week… delicious carbohydrate eye candy.

I got back from a great weekend getaway in Quebec City (FRIGID, but great). The hotel we stayed at, Le Port-Royal, was modern and lofty. I had to snap a pic of the gorgeous wallpaper and furniture in the lobby.

The old city was like a magical winter wonderland, every store front was decorated for Christmas! They really go all out with the Christmas lights in Quebec. How cute are the santa clothes hanging from clothes lines?

The highlight of the weekend? Not my first attempt at skiing (I did more gymnastics-style tumbling than actual skiing), but the food! We had an amazing dinner at a restaurant called L’Echaude. And the icing on the cake? I tried my first macaroon; now I know what everyone has been talking about! Anyone ever try to make them? The recipes look intimidating!
