I have been driving past our local nursery this week to scope out all of the gorgeous flowers that are out for Mother’s Day. Fittingly, gardens remind me of both my mom and my mother-in-law. When I was growing up my mom had a flower garden that ran alongside our house. All of my favorite flowers like snapdragons, black-eyed Susans and pansies were planted there each year. My mother-in-law has the greenest thumb of anyone I’ve ever met and when we gift her flowers for Mother’s Day she keeps them alive all summer long. I, on the other hand, struggle to keep a cactus alive. I love flowers but gardening is certainly my weakest domestic skill. You know what I’m really good at though? Mixing up cocktails. For Mother’s Day, I thought I’d take some of this flower-inspiration and apply it to my area of expertise by concocting a floral-flavored drink. Elderflower is one of my favorite mixology flavors, and I’m an absolute sucker for grapefruit too (seriously: be sure to check out my Grapefruit Moscow Mule, Thyme Punch, and Sparkling Salty Dog). I decided to combine the elderflower liquor with a grapefruit vodka, sparkling grapefruit IZZE and a little bit of citrus. To serve the drinks I brought out my favorite coupes and added a few clipped pansies to float inside the drink. Did you know pansies  are edible? They’re a favorite flower of mine, reminding me of me of my childhood, and make the most darling garnish when you’re serving your drinks. Get the full recipe below!
