Jack Wills.

Killing some time before the Cynthia Rowley event on Wednesday night,  I took a window-shopping stroll down Newbury St. The window at Jack Wills caught my eye — the clothes were cute, but the styling got me inside. I had one of those “how did I not know about this store?” moments as soon as I entered; it was preppy paradise. On make-up packaging, umbrellas, jewelry, bathing suits — their signature navy and pink stripe was everywhere. Including on the walls  behind a stellar art gallery going up the three-story staircase in the center of the store. Let’s just say – I kind of want to move in.

After making a pink and navy striped purchase I snagged their catalog and poured over it at home. Their home goods also have that signature ivy-leaguer-look — it makes me wish I had a dorm room to decorate again!

Office space.

I found at this week that I’m moving to a new desk. I will soon be a bona-fide cubicle-girl. The desk move has me thinking about office supplies, and the prospect of some new accessories to organize my work life. Afterall, we spend 40 hours of our week in these cubes, why not give them the same love and attention we give our homes?

This weekend I popped into the new Jonathan Adler store on Newbury Street that I’ve been so excited about. The store is to-die-for. I wish they would just rent it to me as a furnished apartment. Per usual, I fell in love quickly with some out-of-my-price-range-wares; but I was surprised to find how affordable the bath accessories were.

Ok, where am I going with this? First talking office supplies, now we’re on to bathroom accessories? My point — how cute would these multi-functional pieces look as desk accessories instead? The tumbler could hold pencils, the tray could corral my cellphone and sticky-notes, and the stash box could hold paper clips and tacks. I even think the wastebasket is the perfect size to hold some file folders (I measured, they’ll fit). Adding these to my cubicle wish list.

PS: If you have a smartphone, check out the free Jonathan Adler wallpapers you can download on his site! Amazing!

Closing up shop.

My friend emailed me last week to let me know the Pottery Barn on Newbury Street was closing, and then today I got an email from Crate and Barrel announcing their Faneuil Hall shop was shutting it’s doors.

What’s going on Boston retail? Bad news for the economy, but maybe it’s good news for my apartment — I’m going to stop by and check out the deals.

Chocolate Buttons.

I’m busy getting ready for a business trip to Chicago, but had to do a quick post on what might be the cutest tasty treat I’ve ever encountered…

This weekend my girlfriends and I popped into Hotel Chocolat on Newbury Street in Boston for a Champagne and Chocolate event celebrating their store opening.

I don’t usually need to be convinced to buy chocolate, but I was extra enthralled by one product in particular – their vintage button chocolates. The owner apparently collected vintage buttons when shopping with his wife at a London flea market and used the buttons to create a mold for these yummy chocolates. Flea market finds and chocolate? Sounds like a winning combination to me!
