It’s been radio-silence over here this past week. I’ve been busy working on some new projects for the end of summer; lot’s more (tasty) content is coming soon. I also took a little bit of time off to head down to New York for family time as we said goodbye to my sweet Grandfather. He was a huge part of my life; I was lucky to grow up on the same block as him and my grandmother and we had a close relationship because of it. We reminisced about his humor, his kindness, and his love for mischief (and whiskey) – a silver lining in all of the heavy heartedness was getting to spend time with family and friends we rarely see. Anytime life throws a curveball at you, like it did this week, it can feel a little bit difficult to get back into the creative groove. It called for a weekend of fun, to celebrate life a little bit more than usual. We went out for a dinner date for my husband’s birthday at Island Creek Oyster Bar (kid-free, oh-em-gee!) and visited friends hosting a summer BBQ, just the kind of activities that you need to recharge and re-set. Since I fell off the Internet this week, I have a few fun links and posts that I didn’t get to share much while we were away. Enjoy them, and meet me back here next week for a fresh start!
Baby Registry Review. I wrote a huge post reviewing our baby registry 6-months after Jane was born with all of our favorite products, things we didn’t end up using, and a bunch of things that I didn’t know to register for pre-baby! The things that people seemed to comment on the most? Travel disposal bags for diapers, the awesome Breeze travel crib, and our favorite product: the Baby Bjorn bouncer seat. I also loved seeing how much everyone loved our list of favorite board books (Foodie Babies Wear Bibs is a stand-out!). A few of the products I linked to happen to be on sale right now too, like Freshly Picked moccasins and these cute pom-pom storage totes.
All the shoes. My favorite sandals gave out after getting stuck in a crazy rainstorm last week and I decided to replace them with something fresh! I’m a Jack Rogers loyalist and found these bow-adorned sandals on sale – too cute. Target has a pretty stellar pair of lace-up pom-pom sandals that might make the cut too at such a great price. On the topic of adorable shoes, I am pretty sure Jane is going to need these black and white animal print booties for fall.
Fresh Recipes. I did manage to get a few new recipes up on the blog last week: S’mores Rice Krispy Treats for an easy BBQ dessert, and my weekly Farmer’s Market Challenge made use of fresh berries on a Strawberry Goat Cheese Crostini.
Featured. I shared one of my favorite working-mom hacks alongside a handful of other entrepreneur moms on Livingly, check out the full article!
