I mixed up this tasty bourbon pear punch over the weekend when we celebrated Halloween outside with a few friends (I feel the need to add, everyone had masks on unless we were sipping cocktails, safety first!). You may notice in the picture that there is snow on the ground, mixed with crunchy fall leaves, and I’m wearing a t-shirt — New England at it’s finest,  a jumble of seasons in just a few short hours. With the election day this week, I think I may be mixing up another round of these — we can all use a drink, right?  Prep the spiced pear simple syrup in advance so it has time to chill before you mix up a batch of this seasonal spiced bourbon punch, cheers!

Bourbon Pear Punch.

Ingredients
  • 2 Pears, cored and peeled
  • 1 Orange, quartered
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1½ Cups of Water
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. of Whole Cloves
  • 1 Tsp. of Allspice
  • 1 Tsp. of Nutmeg
  • 1.5 Oz. Bourbon
  • ½ Oz. Apple Cider
  • Soda Water
  • Orange wedges, for serving
  • Rosemary sprigs, for serving
Instructions
  1. To make the spiced pear syrup, combined peeled pears, orange pieces, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon sticks, water, sugar, and spices in a pot. Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the liquid has reduced by almost half.
  2. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer, pressing down to release all of the juices from the pears and oranges. Chill the syrup until ready to use.
  3. Combine 1.5 oz of bourbon with ½ oz of the pear syrup, and ½ oz of apple cider over ice. Stir and top with soda water, orange wedges and fresh rosemary springs before serving.
