We have, understandably, been spending a lot of the past few months taking our weekends a little slower than usual. I typically have to use our weekends as time to get projects and shoots done for the blog and some freelance clients, so I’ve been trying really hard to condense my weekend work to Saturdays to leave Sunday open for some true downtime. As a result of being a bit more successful at this division of work and rest, we’ve been having some really nice Sundays, camped out on the couch with the fireplace crackling, and usually some football games on TV. 
Last weekend was a multi-day celebration of my husband’s birthday; I am a firm believer in the “birthday week” over just one night of festivities. We planned to kick off the weekend with friends heading out to a concert (Huey Lewis and the News played, and yes they were awesome). To me, one of the best parts of outdoor summer concerts is the tailgating before the show. We were heading to the event with friends, and we own a tiny car that isn’t ideal for this type of pre-concert picnicking. Luckily Enterprise CarShare reached out me about trying their car-sharing program in Boston and it was the perfect opportunity to borrow an SUV that would hold our friends and concert tailgating spread!

I’m heading down to New York for the weekend and will be attending my very first football game while I’m there. I’m not what you would call a sports person. But tailgating? I can get behind that. Enjoying a cocktail and dinner off the grill in my warm quilted jacket on a cool Fall day — that’s what I’m exciting about. I have been informed that tailgating in the parking lot at an NFL stadium is not going to be the preppy dream that I had envisioned in my imagination — but that’s not going to stop me from bringing my monogrammed boat tote!
