Be still my heart — scalloped shorts and striped boat shoes – how adorable are these two pink seersucker pieces? Brought to you by two of the preppiest of brands of course: Lilly Pulitzer and Sperry Topsider. All that’s missing is a string of pearls and sailboat to Nantucket, a nice little daydream don’t you think?

Lately I’ve been experimenting with bold royal purples and bright tomato reds in my closet. I snagged a light silky purple blouse from Old Navy last week and paired with some of my favorite red chino shorts; then I spotted a purple and red necklace on the sale rack at J.Crew this weekend and scooped it up! I usually associate these colors with the rich hues reserved for the Fall, but pairing them together in light weight fabrics is working for me this Spring. What do you think of this color combination?

Striped, patterned, neon, ruffled, scalloped, high-waisted — there is such a diverse range of options for shorts this summer season. I used to be more of a sundress and skirt girl, but with all of the patterns and details available, shorts are making a big entrance into my summer wardrobe; paired perfectly with some wedge heels and a silky blouse.
