Bridal Shower.
I shared a few sneak peeks last week, but absolutely could not wait to post all of the amazing pictures my bridesmaid and bestie Taz took of my bridal shower. Am I not the luckiest girl in the world? I have the most talented friends — from the candy bar to the flowers, to the handmade tassel garland, I walked around the room with my jaw-dropped at how much effort they had into throwing me the prettiest bridal shower I’ve ever seen.

Engagement photos.
It’s a real testament to our wedding photographer that I’m even sharing these pictures — I rarely post photos of myself here! At first I was very hesitant to even do engagement pictures, we both hate having our picture taken, and I was overwhelmed by all of the ‘themes’ I was seeing on Pinterest (us bloggers put a lot of pressure on ourselves!). But our awesome wedding photography Ruthie encouraged us to give it a shot, if for nothing else than that it would be great practice for our wedding day. I’m so glad we listened to her because not only do I love the pictures, but I know that we’ll be much more comfortable in front of the camera come the ‘big day’ — plus, after four years of blogging, Mike finally gets to make his DomestiKatedLife debut!
Shower Sneak Peek.
With all of the craziness in Boston and some last-minute wedding planning, I took an unintentional two-week blogging hiatus, oops! But I’m back in action with some very cute pictures to share, a few sneak peeks of the amazing bridal shower my best friends and sister threw for me over the weekend. I can not wait to share all of the gorgeous pictures of their hard work but in the meantime I had to post a few snapshots from my phone of the decorated mantel that I opened presents in front of, and of course the money shot: a giant stack of ombre macarons on the dessert table.
The shower dress hunt.
Finding the perfect dress for my impending bridal shower is proving to be a more difficult task than finding a wedding dress! While I almost accidentally stumbled upon my dream wedding dress, I’ve been on the hunt for weeks trying to find the perfect spring-time party dress to wear to the shower. I think I tried on almost 30 dresses in a post-work shopping session on Monday night and went home empty-handed, so my next step is to some online options from this suite of coral pink dresses I ordered online. I need all the help I can get: which one gets your vote?

Envelopes and Ribbons.
It’s been radio silence over here for a few days as I started my new job and have been preparing for that little event I’m planning: the wedding. We’re just two and half months away which means it’s becoming ‘go-time’ — I’ve been spending my evenings lining envelopes and neatly practicing writing out addresses. Just another week or so and those invites will be out the door (and then onto the next project!). Not that I’m complaining, playing with stationery, picking out ribbons and floral details, and writing to-do-lists happen to all fall in the category of my very favorite things.
At the racetrack.
You know how brides start to get nervous and crazy as their wedding gets closer from all of the stress? See, I’m pretty relaxed about the wedding, but what I am stressed about is that with the big day just 3 months away, that’s only a few more issues of my favorite bridal magazines showing up in my mailbox! I might not be able to give up my Martha Stewart Weddings after the vows are said and done — especially after this gorgeous race-track inspired wedding in the most recent issue. Black and white stripes are playing a big part in our wedding decor, so these ideas are getting bookmarked! See the rest of the wedding here.
Tasting.
This weekend I experienced perhaps my favorite wedding planning meeting to date: the tasting! I consider myself quite an expert in this category, as eating is pretty much my favorite thing in all the world. It felt like a big relief to go through all of the details and taste every little treat, narrowing down our choices to make the perfect menu. One of my favorite choices that didn’t make the cut were those mini ‘adult’ root beer floats (I’d be lying if I said I stopped after just one). Now, how do I go about getting invited to more of these tasting events?
Cake, flowers, and monograms.
A few random musings are what I have for you today… first off: my birthday is on Thursday and I have one thing on my mind. Funfetti Cake. Somehow my grocery store was sold out of the mix (didn’t they know it was my birthday?) so I’ve been looking up a few homemade recipes (here and here).
This weekend we also tackled some wedding planning tasks — I got to work pulling together inspiration images for our florist (who happens to be one of my fabulous bridesmaids!). I’m so excited to see all of these ideas come together, I’m thinking beautiful giant peonies, some pretty little billy buttons, and pops of bright pink blooms.
And it will come as surprise to no one, that as we worked on our wedding registry this weekend there were plenty of monogrammed goods added to the list. I’m certain I would have registered for a monogrammed vacuum, had that been an option.
Tackling the Wedding Registry.
I have just started tackling some research for building out our registry. My fiancé and I already live together — in fact we’ve lived in 3 different apartments over the past few years and have accumulated lots of kitchen items — but most of those things are hand-me-downs, and college-era relics. I’m talking all about my plans for building a registry of kitchen ’upgrades’ over on Wayfair’s My Way Home blog today — head over and join the conversation!
Wedding Day Contenders.
Finding the perfect wedding dress was a super painless and easy task for me — I was incredibly decisive and knew exactly what I was looking for. As a self-professed statement necklace junky, my hunt for the perfect wedding day jewelry has been far more of a challenge. Big chunky beaded necklaces, layers or pearls, delicate gold chains, I just can’t seem to make up my mind! These are the few of the contenders in the mix now, which one is your favorite?
