I’m sitting at my desk and staring out the window — looking at the blanket of snow covering our yard — and the idea of springtime seems quite distant. My friends at Christmas Tree Shops andThat! invited me into their stores last week to preview all of the festive new items for spring and Easter, and it got me so excited for that snow to melt, for the flowers to bloom and to celebrate in the season ahead! The store was packed to the brim with Easter inspiration (here is my PSA for everyone that Easter is quite early this year: April 4th!), and sparked some ideas for a festive springtime table. My favorite find was a set of Peter Rabbit-inspired plates with a blue and white striped border – they are CUTE– I couldn’t pass up the bunny/stripe combo! I happened to find some blue and white gingham bunny ear napkin rings nearby that were a perfect match. Since we’ll likely be spending Easter at home with just the three of us (again!) I am really leaning into the playful elements that will make things feel fun and festive. The rabbit plates were kid-sized, so I layered them over beautiful scalloped white plates from Christmas Tree Shops andThat! (these look pricey in real life, but were an affordable find!). I love that they’ll work for other holidays when mixed and matched with other accent plates. The glassware section at Christmas Tree Shops andThat! was full of SO many good options I had a hard time picking just one set – but these glass tumblers with raised details on the edges felt really special for brunch drinks (and sturdy enough to trust a toddler with!). Mixing and matching patterned linens is one of my favorite ways to add interest to a table, and I like to play around with the combinations in my cart when I’m visiting Christmas Tree Shops andThat! The plaid pastel tablecloth I used as the base of my table is going to be a favorite for spring – the colors and pattern have a very nostalgic feel. I added a spring green striped table runner over the top – the difference in scale of the thick, bold stripes helps balance the busy pattern of the tablecloth. And since I had another bold pattern in the darling bunny ear napkin rings, I opted for a soft green solid napkin with a delicate lace trim from their spring collection to finish the place settings. Speckled Easter eggs in the prettiest pastel tones (which were among the many cute Easter egg options at Christmas Tree Shops andThat!) add a little playful detail to the table, tucked under some fresh pink tulips! This cheery table put a little “spring” in my step and got my so excited for the season ahead.
