We are in that in-between spot where I want to hang onto the sunny New England summer days as long as possible, but I also feel excited for my favorite parts of fall: cooler days, back to school supplies, and all of the cozy fun that comes with the changing seasons. My friends at Christmas Tree Shops and That! recently invited me into their store to check out some of the fall trends that are rolling out now, and I found so many affordable, stylish pieces that sparked some ideas for bridging the gap between the seasons. Warm rusty oranges, deep jewel-toned purples, and all of the bold textures and rustic elements that I found at Christmas Tree Shops and That! gave me the inspiration for this colorful, fall-inspired end of summer picnic!I love finding inspiration that pushes me outside my comfort zone. While I’m usually a classic blue-and-white gal when it comes to most of my festive ideas, the rich jewel tones and warm fall colors I spotted while browsing Christmas Tree Shops and That! gave me fresh ideas for this set up! I was drawn in to some beautiful metallic and textured candle holders in deep rusty oranges with pops of purple. And that purple tone came up again when I spotted speckled purple plates, warm golden bowls, and vintage-inspired purple glassware in the kitchenware section of the store! A theme was emerging, and I rolled with it.One of my favorite things to visit Christmas Tree Shops and That! for is great storage containers, and my cart was full of textured rattan baskets (it was hard to choose from so many affordable styles!). A fun tip for making picnic-set up easier is to fill up sturdy rattan baskets with your snacks and serveware, then flip them over after you spread out your blanket and use them as flat surfaces for holding food and drinks. I also grabbed some on-trend fall textiles with plaid napkins and a cozy textural throw blanket to use as the base of my picnic party! Another great find for fall at Christmas Tree Shops: lots of copper elements! I found a very affordable, hammered copper set of utensils that will look great on fall holiday tables. They add a pop of metallic warmth to the scene.  All that’s left to do is unpack your picnic snacks and enjoy this cozy, seasonal scene!
