If there is one thing I like to hold onto at the end of summer, it’s al fresco dining in our garden. In fact, those late summer nights when it finally starts to cool down are some of my favorite times for entertaining. I visited my local Christmas Tree Shops for some fresh inspiration for a late summer table and came up with a table that is full of my favorite blue and white tones and mixed with natural textures. To set the table I started with a pretty blue and white runner from the Christmas Tree Shops Coastal Cove collection – I’ve gotten a few things over the summer from this collection and love all of the blue and white accents. For my table setting, I mixed blue patterned melamine plates – great for outdoor entertaining – on top of some oversized olive wood chargers with a fun striped white accent around the rim. To bring more of that natural tone into the table, I used light tan gingham napkins on top of the plates and added some decorative woven rattan candle holders. I’m all about pattern and texture mixing, and a trick to doing that is to keep a simple color palette and vary the scale of patterns. The tan gingham napkins and natural chargers are both oversized and graphic, and the plates and runner both have smaller more detailed patterns where I brought in the blue and white tones. Down the center of the table I added several more candle holders in various shades of blue to mix and match with the woven rattan candle holders – I love grabbing candle holders from the wide selection of affordable options at Christmas Tree Shops -and then using them hold my own natural citronella candles. No summer table is complete without glassware for a fabulous signature cocktail, and I found a perfect set of blue-rimmed margarita glasses with a matching pitcher at Christmas Tree Shops – I used a rattan caning accented tray (one of my favorite finds during this shopping trip!) to bring my refreshments outside. All that’s left to do is stir up a pitcher of margaritas!PS: If you’re looking for even more savings, be sure to visit Christmas Tree Shops.com and sign up for their emails to get a $10 off $50 coupon if you’re a new customer!
