Last night I stopped by West Elm after work for the Design*Sponge book signing. Grace did a DIY workshop on personalizing napkins with freezer paper stencils — one of the crafts in the new book. I made a pair with my initials on it (Warning family and friends: monogrammed dinner napkins may be coming your way this holiday season!).  It was awesome to meet Grace — I have to admit, I was a bit starstruck meeting her; she’s one of the first bloggers that I started to read regularly. She was as warm and nice in person as she seems from reading her blog. And the book looks awesome, I’m so excited read it!

This week I’ve actively mourned the end of Summer, discussed my shopping list for Fall, all while lusting after the New York Fashion Week coverage of shows for next Spring. It’s amazing anyone can keep up, but I sure do try. One of my favorite lines I’ve seen pop up in the NYFW coverage is by Christian Siriano of Project Runway fame. Flowing fabrics and bright neons are a combination I can get behind all year round.

I hit up the Brimfield Antiques Market this weekend and had a blast trekking through the mud and hunting for some vintage treasures. One of my favorite things about going to Brimfield is seeing all of the collections that people sell, everything from typewriter keys to bicycles to old milk bottles.  I walked away with a jadeite baking dish and an antique floral tablecloth that both look perfect in my kitchen; good finds and a very good day.

It looks like the storm has officially passed, I survived on a big stack of magazines, an at home mani-pedi, and a few old movies. As much as the rain and wind slamming against the windows gave me a scare, it was definitely a nice change of pace to lounge around at home all weekend. How did you weather out the storm?

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending a book signing  for Holly Becker’s new book Decorate at the Boston Anthropologie store. It felt like meeting a celebrity when I approached Holly at the event; I had taken her blog class when I first started this site so she was a big influence in my early days of blogging.  And my admiration for Holly has only grown after reading this book — it is packed with gorgeous interiors and great design advice.

After the book signing the fun continued when I attended a luncheon with bloggers from around Boston that gathered for the book event. I had a blast talking to all of the amazing bloggers and artists and designers in attendance.

Add this to your to-do list today: stop by Society Social, and read through their newly published magalog. What’s a magalog you ask? One part catalog introducing Society Social‘s stunning line of bar carts and furniture that launches next week; and one part stylish online entertaining magazine (with a tip on throwing a fabulous soirée from yours truly on pg 63).  I promise you’ll be inspired and will likely want to pour a cocktail concoction from your own fabulous bar cart after reading!

J.Crew is calling it Flaming Red, others might call it vermilion, but I think the only thing you need to call it is the “it” color for Fall. Walking past storefronts this weekend I saw it in every display popping next to camel coats, boyfriend jeans, and leopard print accessories — I love how crisp and bright it looks in every variation.

Today I’m guest posting over on Here In This House’s series: The Dog Days of Summer. Bloggers are joining all week  sharing their nesting to-do’s as summer closes and we gear up for fall. Below is a hint about one of my end of summer decor to-do’s, go over to Here In This House to check it out!

I snagged a copy of the Kate Spade catalog when I was in the store on Newbury Street this past weekend and immediately ripped out this page to tack up on my bulletin board. Their marketing campaigns always impress me and this one was no exception — it’s so playful and bright! Plus it introduced me to the bixby clutch, which just skyrocketed to the top of my lust list.
