We are in the home stretch for Thanksgiving planning, and I have it easy this year since we’re going to my in-laws. I’m in charge of stuffing (my fave) and helping Jane finish the turkey crowns we’ve been coloring for our family. I just can’t help myself though and had to put together a little Thanksgiving table setting for the blog! My friends at Serena and Lily shared some of their beautiful tableware pieces with me and inspired this preppy-harvest look that incorporates some of my favorite tips and tricks for a holiday table.
One of my favorite secrets styling tricks for a beautiful holiday table is to start with a color base, and I’ve used everything from vintage picnic blankets to flat bedding sheets. A tried and true table covering hack of mine is to use fabric by the yard; I picked Serena and Lily’s pinstripe fabric for this setting because I loved the warm orangey-red tone. For a centerpiece, I like to keep things low-profile so that you can see over the table to chat with other guests. Big bunches of magnolia leaves weave down the table with rustic berries and delicate seeded eucalyptus tucked in.
For each place setting, I like to layer colors and textures and patterns to create depth and interest. I started with round rattan placements and topped them with graphic blue and white charger plates. On top of the chargers I added my sturdy everyday white plates for the actual meal, and brought in blue and white gingham cloth napkins for a cozy fall feel (I love the delicate pom-pom trim on these linens!). Simple gold flatware on top of the plates brings in a metallic hue, and ties in the warm tones of the tablecloth and magnolia leaves. 
For some texture and movement, I wrapped up bundles of fragrant cinnamon sticks with velvet ribbons that tied in the autumnal tones of the magnolia leaves to the more classic, coastal tableware pieces from Serena and Lily. They add such a seasonal scent to the room that you can totally get away with passing off your store-bought pies as fresh baked (I won’t tell anyone!). I love how the ribbons look so playful and move your eye around the setting. Adding cinnamon sticks and rosemary sprigs to a signature cocktail at each place setting is another festive final touch that makes the table feel perfectly seasonal and special!
