It was a delightfully quiet weekend — I parked myself on the couch for a full day on Saturday with a full DVR, some fashion magazines, and a good book that I read cover to cover (Seating Arrangements by Maggie Shipstead — I recommend it!). Sometimes you just need a weekend of nothing to do to get recharged, right?

I feel a bit nostalgic this week seeing all of the college students back in the city after a quiet summer. I’m a self-professed geek who actually loved back-to-school time and relished in getting my brand spanking new Ticonderoga pencils sharpened in preparation for the first day of classes. Long gone are the days of first days of school, but I’m still eyeing the desk supplies!

I’m delighted to be featured “In the Spotlight” on Curating Style today, sharing all of my favorite things, from cocktails to signature accessories! Won’t you go check it out

I was super lucky to be invited last night to a hear Designers Don Carney and John Ross share their inspiration and present a preview of their new Patch NYC line debuting at Target on September 9th. As a long time fan of kitschy woodland creatures, these pieces were right up my alley. I’ll be ready to line up at my local Tar-jay for a gorgeous feather serving plate and teapot and few quirky little owl candle holders.  Check out more previews here.

When I went to NYC this weekend I tried DryBar, and  I’m usually quite camera-shy but  it was SO good that  I’m actually posting pictures of myself on the blog. Yea, it was that good. It’s such a fun atmosphere and the attention to detail is phenomenal. From the chick-flicks playing on TVs, to the iPhone docks at each seat, to the bright yellow chandeliers made out of hair dryers, it was all around a great girl’s day with my mom and sister at the salon (and we all looked quite fabulous when we headed out to go see Newsies that evening in the city!).

Miss me? I was off a few days having “pinch me, is this for real?” moments at Alt Summit NYC. There were several times during the event that I geeked-out over the fact that I was hearing Martha Stewart speak just ten feet away from me; that I was rubbing shoulders with Kevin Sharkey on the roof of the Martha Stewart headquarters, and peaking into the offices of Darcy Miller to snag a view of her floor to ceiling inspiration boards — not to mention meeting so many of my favorite blogger friends in real life!

By far though, the highlight for me was hearing Tina Roth Eisenberg of Swiss Miss talk about the importance of side projects (ahem, like this little ol’ blog here) and her steps towards living a creative life (Check out Sarah’s great recap of these steps). Her speech and many others throughout the day had a common theme — take the risk to do what you love, and things will work out — advice I need to take to heart!

I started digging through September issues over the weekend and LOVED seeing all of the green in the pages. I picked a kelly green fabric for the bridesmaid dresses in our wedding (check out the swatch below) and was inspired by a dress I saw Mara Rooney wear — I just love how bright and crisp the color looks! What do you think about these shades of green, will you be rocking it this Fall?

It was a busy weekend! I had (lots) of drinks with my girlfriends at book club, caught a baseball game at Fenway, and checked off a few wedding tasks from the to-do-list! Picking up a print for our guest book table from the framer resulted in some major excitement; and addressing dozens of save-the-dates, a little less exciting but certainly productive! What did you do this weekend?
