I’m getting ready to host our annual Halloween gathering in a few weeks and there is no place better in my opinion than Christmas Tree Shops to gather Halloween decorations! I visited my local Christmas Tree Shops to hunt for the perfect pieces to pull together a Halloween bar cart and was instantly struck with inspiration for my décor theme after stumbling on all their seasonal spooky collections!
My inspiration for the bar cart struck when I found some mercury glass potion bottles, a creepy apothecary sign, and a faux potions book with a big scary gold spider adorning the front cover. I wanted my bar cart to look like a witch was mixing up spells and brewing up potions – a perfect little nod to guests mixing up their own cocktail concoctions! (A fun note: while I gathered all these supplies as inspiration for our Halloween party bar cart, they’ve also provided some very fun sensory play for Jane after school – she’s loved using the mercury glass bottles labeled with things like “dragons breath” and “goblin brains” to mix up her own spells while wearing last year’s witch costume hat!).Mood lighting is so important for Halloween, it’s the perfect holiday to break out candles and accent lighting to give a space an eerie feel. I grabbed orange and black taper candles, spider covered pillars (that are battery operated!) and a fun lantern that feels like an old Salem haunted house, all from Christmas Tree Shops. For the actual barware I found some fun Halloween koozies for our beer drinkers and melamine goblets from Christmas Tree Shops, plus a few clear glass skulls that I used to hold paper straws and some extra candy for the bar. My favorite finds from my shopping trip were the Ouija board inspired napkin holder – it fit my theme perfectly – and a metallic spider web covered tablecloth to cover the bar in. For some extra spooky décor, I added accent spiders all over the table, a flock of bats flying across the back wall, and some friendly skeletons hang across the front. It’s such a fun set up and I can’t wait to share it with my guests on Halloween weekend!
