Is there anything tastier than a BLT? It’s such a perfect, classic combination of ingredients and one of my all-time favorite sandwiches. It’s so simple too – simple, quality ingredients like juicy red tomatoes, crisp, buttery green lettuce, and thick, crusty bread. The star of the show though is always the bacon! And high-quality, great tasting bacon like Hatfield’s Thick Cut Triple Smoked Bacon does the trick for me. To take my love for a classic BLT to the next level, I brought it from a weekday lunch to an entertaining spread (or really tasty family dinner) with a big DIY BLT Board full of all the fixings.
The B comes first in the BLT, because it’s top priority for this DIY sandwich board. I chose Hatfield’s Maple Brown Sugar Extra Thick Cut Triple Smoked Bacon for this display. I like the thick-cut bacon because it makes a bit more of a heartier impact for the sandwiches, I love the sweet maple brown sugar flavoring. I also loved learning that as a family-owned, American company, Hatfield is dedicated to a better-quality and better-tasting product by producing pork without the use of hormones or steroids. There are lots of different ways to cook your bacon, but my preferred method for cooking it up on a large scale like you need for this board is by baking it in the oven on a rimmed baking sheet until it’s the perfect crispy level of golden-colored doneness.
