We had a fun, spring break adventure this week at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster, MA on Cape Cod! Ocean Edge invited us to come experience their school vacation week activities and enjoy all the awesome food, drink, and recreation options they have to offer. We had visited before as guests of a wedding and have been a few times for drinks on their beautiful hotel terrace when we’re on the Cape in this summer, but this was our first visit as a family, so we were excited to try it out!

One piece of advice I’d give if you were traveling with younger kids and had strollers or lots of traveling gear, is to ask about accessibility of your room – there are lots of stairs around the main mansion since it’s built into a hill. There are also separate parking areas depending on which side of the building you’re staying in, so leave your bags in the car when you check in and the front desk will direct you to the closest access entrance.
We were also busy with the activities that Ocean Edge had planned for the April school vacation week. They had a packed schedule of options for all ages, and we jumped at the chance to take a family pickleball lesson. Shout out to Marcus the awesome instructor at Ocean Edge who give us an incredibly comprehensive, informative, and most importantly FUN introduction to the sport. We were hooked after our immersion into pickleball, and I was ordering us all paddles on our walk back from the courts. In the same area where the golf course and pickleball courts are, there’s a pretty lake overlook and a big wooden boat playground that was fun for Jane to explore before we headed to lunch at the golf club! In addition to our pickleball lesson, we signed Jane up for the bear factory where she got to make her own teddy bear. We also saw archery lessons taking place on the front lawn (Jane missed the age cut off for this, but I’d love to come back and try it when she’s older!).
We lucked out with unseasonably warm weather for April and got to try one of the heated outdoor pools, and because one can never have too many hours of hotel pool fun when you’re 6 years old, we also did some swimming in the indoor pool as well. As is true with almost all of our travel experiences, Jane found swimming in the hotel pool the highlight of the long weekend!

The Ocean Edge service was great – anyone that has visited a seasonal destination in the off season knows that it sometimes comes with staff shortages, but I was so impressed with all our experiences from activities to dining. I was also incredibly grateful that the resort staff was so accommodating towards family travel. The kids menus in each restaurant were a step above the usual chicken nuggets; each restaurant had at least 5-6 diverse options on their kids menu. Jane’s meal always came first (any parent will know what a godsend it is to have a warm plate of French fries hit the table when your kid is exhausted from a long day of vacation fun!) and they also had different coloring books at every meal for rotating entertainment. It was a very nice family-friendly travel experience without feeling like you’re sacrificing the elevated resort experience that most adults want on vacation.
