I have a nagging resolution that I have made for the past few years and never really did anything about: updating my make-up routine. I’m slightly embarrassed to say my make-up bag contents are nearly identical today (at 34 years old) to what I was using in college. Those products that I’ve probably been using for the better part of a decade are about as simple as they get, and I keep telling myself that I’m going give my routine a revamp to feel more age-appropriate.  My friend Amanda is a talented make-up artist and esthetician, and she offered to give me a little make-up therapy session to finally tackle this resolution of finding a refreshed make-up routine. I learned SO much from our lesson that I had to share her wealth of tricks, tips and favorite products here – it was too good not to share! read more

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak preview of Chaps new spring line in Boston. They shot their spring campaign right in our backyard, featuring some of the most picturesque spots in Beacon Hill (a perfect backdrop for their preppy looks, we do prep right in Boston!). It was a really fun event — I’m a girl who can get behind mini lobster tacos, champagne, and chit chat about monogrammed collared shirts! One of the fun details at the event was live fashion illustrators sketching our outfits — I wore a super cozy striped sweater from the new line that I will be living in all summer! I was lucky to catch a few runway shows at The Tent for Boston Fashion Week on Saturday. My favorite of the shows was Luke Aaron who presented gorgeous, lady-like pieces. Peplums, gingham maxi skirts, and smart little structured bags all made an appearance on the runway. And the best part? The long, bouncy ponytails on the models — they looked sophisticated and un-fussy — something to keep in mind on my next bad hair day!

When I went to NYC this weekend I tried DryBar, and  I’m usually quite camera-shy but  it was SO good that  I’m actually posting pictures of myself on the blog. Yea, it was that good. It’s such a fun atmosphere and the attention to detail is phenomenal. From the chick-flicks playing on TVs, to the iPhone docks at each seat, to the bright yellow chandeliers made out of hair dryers, it was all around a great girl’s day with my mom and sister at the salon (and we all looked quite fabulous when we headed out to go see Newsies that evening in the city!).

I started digging through September issues over the weekend and LOVED seeing all of the green in the pages. I picked a kelly green fabric for the bridesmaid dresses in our wedding (check out the swatch below) and was inspired by a dress I saw Mara Rooney wear — I just love how bright and crisp the color looks! What do you think about these shades of green, will you be rocking it this Fall?
