Sugar and spice and everything nice! That’s what I thought when I first tried Fancypants Baking Co’s Spiced Chocolate cookies. They’re crispy little chocolate treats with a hint of cinnamon and cayenne – the perfect bite to satisfying a craving and warm you up on these cold winter days. I loved them so much that they inspired me to make homemade spiced hot chocolate to pair them with – a sweet and spiced pairing that warms up your core!

- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon chili powder, plus more for dusting
- Homemade whipped cream
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine milk, finely chopped semisweet chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and chili powder
- Heat and continuously whisk until the chocolate has completely melted and the mixture is hot (be careful not to boil).
- Pour hot chocolate into a mug, top with whipped cream and dust with cocoa powder and chili powder if desired.
