Mixing up a spiced, seasonal drink for my #domestikatehappyhour series that’s a perfect concoction to serve at Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving celebrations: a spiced whiskey sour! It’s got all the makings of a classic whisky sour, but with hints of fall flavor from fresh squeezed clementine citrus and a spiced simple syrup made with fragrant cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and chai tea. Clementine Spiced Whiskey Sour.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Rye Whiskey
- 1½ oz Fresh Clementine Juice (about 2 clementines)
- ½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ¾ oz Spiced Simple Syrup
- Cherries, for garnish
- Spiced Simple Syrup
- 1 Cup of Water
- ½ Cup of Sugar
- 3 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 Tsp Whole Cloves
- 1 Tsp Fresh Nutmeg
- 2 Chai Tea Bags
Instructions
- To make the syrup: Combine water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and nutmeg in a small saucepan. Simmer until reduced by half, and then steep the chai tea bags in the syrup for 5 minutes. Strain the syrup, transfer to a glass container and chill until ready to use
- To make the drink, combine the rye whiskey, fresh squeezed clementine juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled glass or serve over ice. Garnish with a cherry.
